Contracts Contracts Contracts

Contracts Contracts Contracts

For me being a Wedding/Event photographer contracts are essentials for my business to thrive. Contracts protect you and your clients from potential confrontation and legal matters. Also, it clears up any gray area they may come up down the road involving packages, length of service, turnaround times and so forth.

I only use contracts for event photography. I don’t use it for portraits and mini sessions and other services I provide. Time is your most precious and valuable gift. With that being say you must ensure you will receive compensation for your time.

It’s been times I have been burnt by family, friends or ex coworkers. Where I reserved a date and time and didn’t do a contract. was more of a variable agreement with the intent to do a contract. Once it got closer to the event date they had a change or something came up it was always a excuse.
I had to learn the hard way. I turned down so many events giving people the benefit of the doubt. When running a business you can’t do that you will end up out of business. From here on out no contract no deposit, no photographer.

I will expand more on this topic in later blogs.

Say Cheese

“Say Cheese”

You ever notice that must photographers use the same old fashion, “1, 2, 3 cheese.” When taking photos. My personal experience that’s just too long. That’s just too much time for something to go wrong in the photo. Below are some of the issues I experience when using waiting for “cheese”.

* Closed eyes
* Moving hands
* Not looking directly at the camera
* Turned Heads
* Talking
* Laughing

My personal approach to this issue is taking the photo on two. That’s right on 2. Let me walk you through how I do it and how I perfected it.

Let’s say I am at a birthday party. Now the guest of honor wants a photo with co-workers they invited to the event or whomever.

Pose the group
Inform the group I am taking the picture on 2 and tell them to smile on two.
I adjust the camera to the appropriate settings.
Begin the countdown 1, 2 and the snap the photo.

Next time you’re out this summer or at event out with family and friends please try this approach and let me know how it works for you. When it works make sure to tell your friends and family where you got the tip from lol.

Ultimate Inspiration

Ultimate Inspiration

I been wanting to Blog and Vlog about photography, technology and business for about the past five years. I always started to write down my plan and schedule of what I would blog about and when I blog and so forth. I just never got around to doing it until today. Sometimes God put people in your life and you don’t realize why.

Today started like any other day. I woke up and said my daily prayer. I checked my phone before I headed to the bathroom and saw I had a new follower on Instagram. I was was curious to see if it was a spam follower or maybe a potential customer. When I clicked on the profile it was one of friends. She started a new page dedicated to being a young, black, wife and mother. I was left in awe. She is doing the damn the thing. I am so proud of her and she has a amazing family.

I just felt that spirt inside of me and that voice say the time is now. I finally got that nudge and push I needed. I thank God for the people he has place in my life over the past few years and removed the ones who shouldn’t be in it. Thank you Lya.

I hope with my blog and Vlog I am able to help, encourage, motivate, and inspire others.
